Bringing together two of the filmmakers featured in this year’s DocsBarcelona, ‘Barbara Forever’ and ‘The Culprits’, this conversation invites their directors to reflect on cinema as a space to challenge sexist narratives and give voice to silenced experiences.
Through these two works—one exploring the life and legacy of pioneering lesbian filmmaker Barbara Hammer, and the other confronting the taboo of adolescent abortion through collective testimony—this session will address how film can contribute to breaking stigmas and building references.
Moving between the personal and the collective, the discussion will touch on intimacy, authorship, and the ethics of representation, while opening a broader reflection on who gets to tell stories—and how cinema can become a space of resistance, capable of expanding what can be seen, said, and imagined.
A session moderated by philosopher and activist Ayme Román.
