The recently founded Asociación de Documentalistas Audiovisuales de España (ADAE), will contribute with its professional experience to help audiovisual production companies produce documentaries and programs that include archive material, without suffering extra costs or legal problems regarding the rights demanded by TV broadcasters and streaming platforms.
Incorporating a documentalist from the beginning of the project is essential in many cases. Having access to documentation, finding out the availability of images and preparearing a budget with current rates to know if you can get what you need may condition the entire script.
What happens if there are archives or owners who do not want to assign rights or at least not at an affordable rate or in perpetuity? Can you negotiate with the platforms to reduce the requested time or geographical distribution? These, among other issues, will be discussed at the round table.
