Lana Daher’s ‘Do You Love Me’ weaves a fragmented and vibrant portrait of Beirut using archive footage, music and popular culture. A musical film in which rhythm and songs serve as the central thread.

The screening is rounded off with a concert by Mar Pujol, creating a sensitive dialogue between cinema and live music.

Mar Pujol

In the vast ocean of musical creation, coming across new artists who embrace simplicity whilst filling the air with warmth and beauty is always a delight. Mar Pujol emerges as an exceptional gem, a treasure that deserves to be savoured at a leisurely pace. Undoubtedly a rare find in these times, a spring flowing against the tide.

At just 24 years old, Mar Pujol presents a sound that oscillates between the earthly and the ethereal, driven by the simplicity and rawness of her voice and a classical guitar. After captivating us with her first EP, ‘Trepa’, which offered a glimpse of her talent, and after a series of melancholic singles, the young singer-songwriter now presents ‘Cançons de rebost’, her debut album. A collection of melodies that aim to preserve fragments of our everyday lives. They are preserves of love, contained in tiny jars, like a gesture of healing and reflection. They are the perfect excuse to marinate the skin, to cure it with the delicacy of salt. Songs with an ancient soul, dressed in the garb of the present, which blend into a warm sound, almost like the crackling of a fire.

Mar Pujol’s music exudes the scent of the Mediterranean, but also that of forests and mountains. A blend of folk and pop that takes us back to our roots and to a sense of calm. How fortunate we are to have found her.
