Juanjo Giménez was born and lives in Barcelona. He has directed several short films, including Timecode (2016), which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, was nominated for an Oscar, Best European Short at the European Film Awards, a Goya, a Gaudí for Best Short, and over 100 international awards.
Other shorts include Rodilla (2010), Nitbus (2007), Máxima pena (2005), and Libre indirecto (1997), all widely awarded in national and international festivals. He is the director of the feature films Nos hacemos falta – Tilt (2003), awarded in Rome, Las Palmas, and Ourense, and the documentaries Esquivar y pegar (2010), co-directed with Adán Aliaga, winner of the Caracola for Best Documentary at the Alcances Festival in Cádiz (2011), and Contact Proof (2014), also premiered at Alcances.
In 2021, he presented his film Tres at the Giornate degli Autori in Venice and in competition at the Toronto Film Festival.
