Adrián Silvestre

Adrián Silvestre is a Valencian film director based in Barcelona. He holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), a degree in Film Directing from ECAM, and a Master’s in Contemporary Art History from MNCARS. His work explores the boundaries between fiction and documentary.

His films have been selected at major international festivals such as Rotterdam, San Sebastián, BFI London, Seattle, Outfest Los Angeles, and Palm Springs, and have received numerous awards, including the Feroz Award, the International Critics’ Prize FIPRESCI, the Maguey Award (Guadalajara), the Félix Award (Rio de Janeiro), the Giraldillo (Seville), the Silver Biznaga (Málaga), the Espiga Arcoíris (SEMINCI), the Rizoma Award, and the Jury Prize at Thessaloniki and DocsBarcelona.

Madaí, Chanel, Rosmer, and Victoria are four queer individuals who fled their countries of origin in search of a better future in the United States. However, their dreams collided with harsh immigration policies, and they ended up in a shelter in Guatemala, where they were forced to reinvent themselves and, together, build a new idea of home.
