On June 30, "548 DÍAS: CAPTADA POR UNA SECTA" arrives exclusively on Disney+, a three-part original documentary series about Patricia Aguilar, who in 2017 was captured by a cult. Her subsequent escape, the search by her family and her rescue are the axes of this production, which collects the first testimony of the young woman from Elche since she was rescued. Written and directed by Olmo Figueredo González-Quevedo ("El estado contra Pablo Ibar") and José Ortuño ("¿Dónde está Marta?"), it is based on the book "Hágase tu voluntad" ("Let your will be done") that journalist Vanesa Lozano published about this shocking case. The directors and Sofía Fábregas, vice president of original production at Disney+, will introduce the screening of the first episode of the series at DocsBarcelona on May 26 at 5:30 pm. To document the story, the team has had exclusive interviews, access to the judicial summary of the case, multiple WhatsApp and Messenger conversations of the protagonists, as well as videos and photographs. The event will be free and open to the public.
The directors of the documentary "SE BUSCA MILLONARIO", Noemí Redondo and Susana López, in dialogue with Hanka Kastelicová, the VP and Executive Producer of Documentaries at HBO Max EMEA, will tell us about the secrets behind the film about a lottery ticket valued at 4.7 million euros that appears on the counter of the betting office in Plaza San Agustín in A Coruña. As soon as it is made public, 333 people claim the ticket, assuring that they are the owners. However, none manages to prove it and suspicions begin to arise about the ticket seller. "Millionaire Wanted", which gives voice to some of these aspiring millionaires, will premiere on May 24 at 7:30 pm at the CCCB Auditorium, in a screening for accredited members of the DocsBarcelona Industry section.
The DocsBarcelona market will be attended by thirty experts, representatives of broadcasters and platforms, international sales agents and investment funds from Australia, USA, Czech Republic, Korea, Italy, UK, Israel, Finland, Qatar and France. In addition to HBO Europe and Disney+, the BBC, ARTE, POV, TVE, TV3 and Movistar Plus will also be present. Funders from Canada, Japan, Germany and other countries will participate virtually, along with representatives of festivals and international markets.
The strength of DocsBarcelona's industry branch will also be reflected in other proposed activities, such as the Public Pitch or the Rough Cut Pitch and Speed Meetings, where four films in the first editing phase and 30 projects in production from 24 different countries have been selected.
