Gerel Byamba is the leader of the Mongolian ultranationalist organization Gerel Khas, which aims to rid Mongolia of corruption and Chinese oppression
Gerel Byamba is a 33-year-old woman, leader of the Mongolian organization Gerel Khas – a ultranationalist group composed entirely of women. Their goal is to rid Mongolia of corruption and Chinese oppression and restore the supposed "glorious nation" of the Genghis Khan era. However, Gerel is also a shaman and a mother. She lives alone with her six-year-old son, Temuulen, which constantly clashes with her nationalist cause. When the group begins to show cracks, Gerel starts to question her violent methods. To what extent are we willing to risk our own lives for the nationalist cause? Can all means be justified to protect a country? Can hatred be justified? Daughter of Genghis plunges headfirst into the heart of nationalism.
