Visual artist of Palestinian origin born in Libya. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cairo (1971-1976) and continued her studies in painting and printmaking at the Accadèmia Delle Belle Arti in Florence (1978-1982). Samira explores the multiple layers of oppression and structures of control that are a continuum in her artistic journey. Her short animated film Memory of the Land proposes a reflection of the human condition under the yoke of different forms of violence, and collective memory and identity as a form of resilience. Her work has been exhibited and acquired in museums and galleries internationally.
