Oscar Pérez was born in Girona in 1973. He studied film at the London College of Communication and currently teaches documentary film at the UPF, the ECAM, the Instituto del Cine de Madrid and the LENS (school of visual arts). Recently, he has been invited to the San Antonio de los Baños School (Cuba) to teach a workshop on Portrait Documentary, and has participated as a tutor/filmmaker in ‘Cinema en Curs’ of the cultural association A Bao A Qu.
Most of his works have been exhibited and won awards at prestigious international festivals. ‘El Sastre’ (2008) won IDFA (Amsterdam), the Silverdocs Audience Award (Washington) and Cinema Eyes Honors (New York), among others. In 2011, he co-directed with Mia de Ribot ‘Hollywood Talkies’, which competed at the Venice Film Festival and the Gijón Festival, and in 2014, he won the Silver Biznaga at the Malaga Festival with ‘El Tram final’. ‘La Millor Opció', her first fiction feature film, premiered at Viennale and won the Best Actress Award at Cinespaña (Toulouse). She has just written and directed a short fiction film, ‘Dejar el nido’, which is part of a series of short films with a common theme: the impact of wild nature on cities.
