Maria Besora

After studying Social and Cultural Anthropology, she specialised in film editing. In her work, she combines ethnographic sensitivity and cinematographic experimentation. Escac Films seleced and produced her degree’s final project, the short film Animal Salvaje (2021), which has been screened at festivals such as IDFA, D'A, DOCS Bacelona, Alcances and at award ceremonies such as the Student Academy Awards and the Gaudí Awards.

Free exploration betwen fiction and non-fiction continues in all her subsequent work as a director and editor. In her teaching, she facilitates filmmaking projects for young people and, and she is also the project manager for VOC, the competitive festival for short films in original version in Catalan promoted by Òmnium Cultural, where she has also worked in programming.
