Justin Webster

Director and journalist

Justin Studied clasical literature before working as a reporter in London for The Independent, and later as a freelance writer, with photographers, for the magazines of The Independent, Granta, The Boston Globe, El País and others. Later he began to direct investigations or reportaje on cultural themes for the BBC and Channel 4, from Spain and Latin America. His first feature documentary as director was FC Barcelona Confidential (Prix Europa, 2005). He founded the production company JWP, with Sumpta Ayuso, and since then has directed some ten features and series such as I Will be Murdered (FICCI, best director, 2014), Gabo, The Creation of Gabriel García Márquez (Nominated, International Emmys, 2015), Death in León (Pro-Docs Prize, 2016), Six Dreams (Winner, 2 Emmys, 2018) and Nisman, The Prosecutor, The President and The Spy (SSIFF, 2019). He has given classes on non-fiction script and direction in Universitat Pompeu Fabra, ESCAC, Columbia Chicago Film School, De Paul University Film Studies, and University of Korea Film School amongst others.
