Dhanraj Barkote, 27, was born in the Humla district of Nepal. He grew up in an orphanage in Kathmandu. He studied filmmaking at Oscar Film College, Kathmandu and ESCAC University, Spain, where he currently resides. Focusing on documentary and looking into the folklore and identity of his native country, he has made and collaborated on several films. His films have been selected in festivals such as Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF), Nepal International Film Festival, and Noches de Cine Oriental, Spain.
Recently, he has completed his latest short film, Avashesh, shot in his native village, where his next film currently in development, will take place too.
