Barcelona, 1952. Founding member of the programs Trenta Minuts and Sense Ficció on Televisió de Catalunya, making documentaries on the Balkan war, the Zapatista revolution and the armed conflicts in Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Kosovo... He received the Ondas Award for the TV reportage Txecoslovàquia: Al cor de la revolta (1990).

Director and screenwriter of feature films such as Balseros, Setembres, Bicicleta, cullera, poma and Petitet (Audience Award at DocsBarcelona, 2018). He was nominated for the Oscars (Best Documentary Film for Balseros). He has won a Goya Award, and he’s twice received a Gaudí Award. Other awards include The Peabody Award (USA, 2004) and Catalonias’s National Award.

He teaches screenwriting and documentary film directing at the EICTV (Cuba) and gives international workshops on his method of screenwriting and directing.
