Sonia Herrera

PHD in communication

PHD in Audiovisual Communication and Advertising. She specializes in feminist studies in social sciences, peace journalism and educommunication. She dedicates her work as an independent researcher in the analysis and feminist critique of media communication, especially focused on film and television series. She teaches in the Master's Degree in Gender and Communication and the Master's Degree in International Health and Cooperation (both at the UAB) and is a collaborating professor in the area of Feminisms and Sexual Diversity in the Bachelor's Degree in Social Education and the Master's Degree in Journalism and Digital Communication at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia).

She is also a member of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), the Ibero-American Network of Audiovisual Narratives (INAV Network) and the Observatory on Conflict Reporting (OCC) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She is also co-coordinator of Acció Estudi a Dones Visuals and research delegate of the Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media (CIMA).
