Carolina Arias Ortiz

Carolina Arias Ortiz was born in Costa Rica in 1987. At the age of 12, she emigrated with her mother and her sister to Brussels, Belgium. Her concern for understanding cultural differences led her to study Anthropology. Later, her fascination with images and sound inspired her to explore cinema and audiovisual language.

In 2010 she completed a Postgraduate degree in Documentary film in Barcelona. She returned to Latin America and settled for 4 years in Quito, Ecuador, where she worked in different indigenous territories and with women's organizations.

She currently lives in Costa Rica, where she works as a Professor of Anthropology and Film and also develops documentary projects with her production company. She is a Doctoral student in Anthropology and Film at the University of Costa Rica.
